ArchitecturePersonalStatement建筑学个人陈述（PS）IamconvincedthatIshouldstudyarchitectureasitwillallowmetocontinueincorporatingmanyofthestrongestaspectsofmypersonalityintomyacademicstudies.Theseaspectsincludemyfascinationwithartanddesign,myinterestsandenjoymentofvariousculturesandenvironmentsandapassionforsolvingpracticalproblemswhilstworkingwithothers.MyinitialinterestinarchitecturebeganwhilststudyingformyGCSEsandhassincedevelopedconsiderablythroughtheregularreadingofarchitecturaljournalsandincreasedawarenessofthebuiltenvironmentIoptedtostudytheInternationalBaccalaureateinsteadofA-levelsbecauseasastrongall-rounderinschool,IwantedtocontinuewiththesubjectsIenjoyandavoidnarrowingmyfuturecareeroptions.TheIBalsoseemedasoundbasisforadegreeinarchitecturethatencompassesboththeartsandsciences.Mypreferredsubjectonthecourseisart,anditisinthisfieldthatIhavechosentoconcentratemyExtendedEssay.Ihaveyettoformulateaspecificresearchquestionforthisin-depthstudy,butmyfocusareaisthatof20thcenturyBritisharchitectureBothoftheseparateworkexperiencesthatIundertookhavefuelledmydesireforafutureinacreativeyetpracticalprofession.IspentthefirstoftheseinthecreativeandstudiodepartmentsofanadvertisingagencyandtheotherwithaprofessionalphotographerDuringbothoftheseexposurestotheworldofwork,IgainedvaluablecomputergraphicskillsInadditiontomyacademicachievements,Ihavebeeninvolvedinanumberofextra-curricularactivities.Aftercompletingastagelightingcourse,Iwasresponsibleforthestagelightinginanumberofschoolproductionswhichparticularlyenhancedmyunderstandingofdesigningwitharrangementsoflightandspaceinmind.ThroughoutmyeducationIhavepursuedvarioussportinginterests,predominatelyfootballinwhichIplayedforExeterCityFCyouthfortwoyearsandmostrecentlycaptainingmylocalyouthteam.MymostsatisfyingrecreationalachievementwasleadingtwoverysuccessfulTenTorsteams.Thisphysicallyenduringandchallengingexperiencehasallowedmetodevelopexcellentleadershipandteamworkskills,bothofwhichareessentialinarchitecturalworkaswellasauniversityenvironmentInmygapyearIintendtospendsixmonthsinEuropewhereIhopetowidenmyknowledgeandexperienceofthedifferentcitiesandcultures.IalsoplanaworkexperienceplacementwithalocalarchitecturalpracticeOnthewhole,Ibelievemyselftobeanappropriatelysociableandcommittedstudentwithasolidacademicfoundationcouplingboththeartsandsciences.Iconsidermyselftohavetheuncommoncombinationofcreativeflair,personalenthusiasmandtechnicalabilityalliedwiththeintellectualcapacitytocopewiththedemandsofhighereducation.WiththesequalitiesIbelieveacareerinarchitectureisrightupmystreet.
