TheRelationshipbetweenWealthandHappinessInourmodernsocietywithmaterialbecomingrichandwealthincreasing,mostpeoplemisunderstandtherelationshipbetweenwealthandhappiness.Peoplealwaysregardwealthashappiness,but,therereallyaresomedifferencesbetweenthem.Happinessisn’twealthorcan’tbeequaltowealthcompletely.Wealthservesasafoundationforhappinessandcanguaranteethepursuitofit.Bothpoormenandrichmenhavetherighttochasetheirhappiness.Eventhoughthehappinessthatthepoorpossessmaybemoresincereandsimple,theyhaven’tthechancesasmanyastherichhave.Whatabeggarofthirstandstarvationneededisjustsomefoodandwaterandnevercouldbegoingtowatchamovieortraveltheworld.Thusonlyifwhenpeoplepossessacertainwealththatcanmeetalltheirneedsthentheyhaveenoughtimeandenergytopursuehappiness.Wealthhastheabilityforenhancingpeople’shappiness.Eveniffewpeoplehaveastrongerfeelingforitwhentheirwealthisincreasing,itreallydoes,whichpeoplecouldn’tdeny.Thefeelingcomingfromapieceofbreadcan’tbealwayscomparedwiththeonefromluxuryvillaorcoolsportscar.But,thatdoesn’tmeancontinuouslyincreasingforwealthisessentiallyinthewaypursuinghappiness,becausetheabilityhasitslimitation,whenpeople’slivingconditionhasreachedtoalevel,noamountofwealthdoesanybusinessforhappiness.Wealthisn’ttheonlywaytogainhappiness,therearemanythingsinpeople’slifecanbethesourceofit.Happinessisn’thowmuchwealthyouhave,butthepositiveandoptimisticattitudeyoutakingforpeopleandthingsaroundyou.Inreality,itdoesn’tmatterwhetherit’sflatbreadordeliciouschicken,whetherit’ssimplecardgameorclassicalmovieorgracefulconcert,thematterisn’twhatyouareeatingordoingbutifyounolongertostarveorfindpleasureinit.Tosumup,thereissomecloserelativitybetweenhappinessandwealth,buthappinessdoesn’trelyonthelatterentirely.Intheprocessofpursuinghappiness,therefore,peopleshouldn’trunafterthelessimportantthingsasaresultthatforgettheoriginalintention:it’shappinessnotwealththatyouexpectgetfinally.Keepingyoureyesonconstantlyforinsurethattheoneyou’repursuingisjusttheoneyouexpect.
